What is the force ratio of a gas spring?

Initial force that has to be overcome in order to set the gas spring in motion.

The resistance of the piston and seals against the internal cylinder wall produces friction, which must be overcome.

Example:
A gas spring with a piston rod diameter of 8 mm and a force of 100 N has a force quotient of 1.3.

100 N * 1.3 = 130 N end force.

The chart below shows the force curve that a gas spring describes. In this case it is a GF-6-75-150.
(6 mm piston rod – 75 mm stroke – 150 N pressure.)
